A competition of false prestige

The governments of many nations strive to compete with the  nations whose economic growth rate keeps soaring. The fact is that mere race without the economic development coupled with a deliberate policy, cannot give out the right consequences. A blind pursuit may snatch the bread and butter of the millions.

The quantity and the kind of natural resources of a nation varies from the others. The nature of  human  resources too, Again, it is the conventional administrative and political structure that differs from one nation to the other. These variations are further strengthened with the prevailing climatic conditions in a selected region.

Further, it is the descending conventional beliefs and practices of a nation that gives a shape to the existing social conditions. The magnitude, the kind and the degree of literacy decides the kind of awareness the people have. It is this awareness and the flexibility of a nation which helps it imbibe the factors of globalization. These factors hasten the nation's progress. Higher the literacy, higher the awareness. Higher the awareness, higher the honing of the mulitple skills to meet the global challenges.

The above factors put together, need to be reinforced with the will and the commitment of the government. However. mere commitment cannot serve the purpose. The development of a nation depends also on the capability and the awareness of the governing body. Further, these two factors should be tinged with foresight. In other words, these factors can be substituted with comprehensive vision. That nation is  the fortunate one, whose citizens as well as government are compatible with each other, in terms of creating a favourable and congenial atmosphere for, not only a balanced economy, but also an all-round growth.

Economic progress alone, cannot enable the citizens of a nation, in reaping the best benefits. The development  should be a blend of political, social and economic progress. The flexibility and the foresight of a nation, in addition to the above factors, helps the nation to make a compendium of the elements of its culture and the elements of all those cultures, which would help the nation in its all round progress.

Hence, the attempt to drive the economy of a nation forward, should not be a wild-goose chase.
It should be a spontaneous outcome of the deliberate policy and an action plan, which should be based on the above discussed factors. Both the government and its people should join hands in driving the nation forward.
