BRT corridor in New Delhi will be the project of yester years.

The Kejriwal-led Delhi government moved forward to bring an end to the Bus Rapid Transit System in New Delhi. This is aimed at giving relief to the large part of the population that gets confined to the small and narrow region of the road. Frequent congestion would certainly come down considerably.

The Sheila Dikshit led congress government had opened the BRT corridor in Delhi on April 20, 2008.

For a long time, the BRT system has been a project that has attracted more opponents than those who have favored  it. The 5.8 km long corridor from Ambedkar Nagar to Moolchand, turned out to be a bottle-neck, causing a large part of the Delhi traffic to get confined to a narrow stretch. This has resulted in the loss of the precious time of the road-users. The alternative left for the helpless, the stretch from Ambedkar Nagar to Defence Colony witnessed enormous amounts of air pollution and high fuel consumption. The vehicles caught in the traffic jam, pumped a lot of poisonous smoke into the environment. Further, it caused health hazards. Frequent accidents made matters worse.
