Can the advent of technology into film-making, pour life into the film world, which has been ailing with its drab and monotonous themes ?
Mere technology cannot bring an equilibrium. Elements that reach up to the global challenges, can hasten us into a society that is free from all malice. Mere entertainment is not so important as the themes that strengthen the safety of the world we live in. Our age has surpassed in entertainment, technology and materialism, but it has lagged behind, in terms of good attitude. Good attitude encompasses comprehensive vision and humanity. As films and movies attract a large number of people of all age groups, nothing else, can play a vital role than movies, in shaping a good attitude among the people.
Violence is an unwanted factor and it is undesirable. It is unfortunate that violence, the demon, has become a tool in the hands of directors, to make easy money. Movies that teems
Horror attracts the child audience but it leaves a paralyzing and an undesirable effect on the young vulnerable minds, which are the determiners of the future world mankind would be placed in.
In fact, most directors are afraid of the downturn of returns, which they expect from their movies. In other words, it is like selling the peace and social harmony of the world to make money.
Elements of morality and good attitude may not bring much returns for a while but in the long run they will certainly, wash the minds of the filth and absurdity. At the same time, these good themes will season the minds of the audience, which would crave for such movies more and more.
Themes of wars and involvement of robotic technology in warfare can only aggravate the existing social evils. However, one thing is certain. It will bring huge profits to the producers. But, it should not be ignored that such themes will put the society at stake. It should be understood that the future of the planet and the society that lives on it, is more important than temporary relief given by monetary benefits, to the film-makers.
It is time the directors and the writers of the film, threw creative glances on the untrodden corners of imagination.
New perspectives should find place in the film-making. Money-making and bagging away rewards should not be the only motto. Rewards may be given away on the basis of verdict. But verdict cannot be a measuring tool for truth and good at all times.
A good film that may not fetch huge amounts of money but its value may be assessed in the forth-coming years. Moreover, it would take time for a large part of the audience who are not enticed to the other global themes because they have got used to the existing monotonous themes which which revolve round romance, domestic issues and human relations. A good film should not be based completely on these three aspects. Instead, it should allocate a fragment in the whole stream of movie.
Technology can give technical depth but not depth to the themes. It is man who should give beauty to the sub-themes and the theme with his comprehensive vision.
